Els \u00e0toms estan formats per protons, electrons, neutrons, i una gran quantitat de part\u00edcules m\u00e9s petites. Encara que sembli una cosa treta de la ci\u00e8ncia ficci\u00f3, l\u2019antimat\u00e8ria \u00e9s real, i, de fet, se\u2019n produeix cada dia a la Terra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>Qu\u00e8 \u00e9s l\u2019antimat\u00e8ria?<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Gaireb\u00e9 totes les part\u00edcules que existeixen a l\u2019univers tenen la seva pr\u00f2pia part\u00edcula d\u2019antimat\u00e8ria, o antipart\u00edcula. Aquestes s\u00f3n part\u00edcules iguals en tots els aspectes, per\u00f2 que tenen una c\u00e0rrega el\u00e8ctrica oposada. Per exemple, un electr\u00f3 t\u00e9 una massa de 9,1*10<sup>&#8211;<\/sup><sup>31<\/sup> kg, i una c\u00e0rrega de -1. D\u2019altra banda, la seva antipart\u00edcula, anomenada positr\u00f3, t\u00e9 la mateixa massa per\u00f2 una c\u00e0rrega de +1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">No obstant, algunes part\u00edcules no tenen un equivalent en antimat\u00e8ria. De fet, l\u2019antimat\u00e8ria \u00e9s el combustible m\u00e9s eficient que existeix, ja que transforma tota la mat\u00e8ria en energia, i, segons la famosa equaci\u00f3 d\u2019Einstein E = mc<sup>2<\/sup>, una petita quantitat de mat\u00e8ria cont\u00e9 una enorme quantitat d\u2019energia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>Descoberta i producci\u00f3 d\u2019antimat\u00e8ria<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">El f\u00edsic brit\u00e0nic Paul Dirac va predir l\u2019antimat\u00e8ria l\u2019any 1928, mentre intentava combinar la mec\u00e0nica qu\u00e0ntica amb la teoria de la relativitat d\u2019Einstein. Dirac buscava solucions a una equaci\u00f3 que descrivia un electr\u00f3 viatjant a quasi la velocitat de la llum. \u00abA l\u2019igual que l\u2019equaci\u00f3 x<sup>2<\/sup>=4 pot tenir dues possibles solucions (x=2 o x=-2), les equacions de Dirac tamb\u00e9 podien tenir dues solucions, una per un electr\u00f3 amb energia positiva, i una altra per un electr\u00f3 amb energia negativa\u00bb, segons el CERN (Organitzaci\u00f3 Europea per a la Recerca Nuclear).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Tot i que en un primer moment Dirac dubtava al compartir es seus c\u00e0lculs, finalment va decidir publicar-los, afirmant que cada part\u00edcula a l\u2019univers t\u00e9 una part\u00edcula equivalent que es comportava igual, per\u00f2 que tenia una c\u00e0rrega oposada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Els positrons es van descobrir pocs anys despr\u00e9s pel f\u00edsic Carl Anderson, mentre estudiava rajos c\u00f2smics que impacten contra l\u2019atmosfera terrestre, produint una cascada d\u2019altres part\u00edcules. Als detectors, Anderson va observar una part\u00edcula que tenia una massa igual a la de l\u2019electr\u00f3, per\u00f2 amb c\u00e0rrega positiva: el positr\u00f3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Avui en dia es produeix regularment antimat\u00e8ria al LHC (el col\u00b7lisionador de part\u00edcules m\u00e9s gran del m\u00f3n). Les col\u00b7lisions de les part\u00edcules, que viatgen a velocitats properes a la de la llum, generen petites quantitats d\u2019antimat\u00e8ria, que s\u2019ha de conservar en ambients buits per tal que no s\u2019aniquili amb la mat\u00e8ria normal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Tamb\u00e9 es produeixen part\u00edcules d\u2019antimat\u00e8ria de manera natural. Per exemple, l\u2019energia de les tempestes el\u00e8ctriques crea positrons, a l\u2019igual que quan rajos c\u00f2smics impacten contra l\u2019atmosfera terrestre. La desintegraci\u00f3 d\u2019alguns \u00e0toms tamb\u00e9 pot ser una font de positrons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>El misteri de l\u2019antimat\u00e8ria<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">La f\u00edsica creu que en el Big Bang la mat\u00e8ria i l\u2019antimat\u00e8ria s\u2019haurien d\u2019haver creat en iguals quantitats.
