L\u2019univers est\u00e0 poblat per bilions d\u2019estrelles, que il\u00b7luminen el nostre cel de nit, i amb les quals podem obtenir unes imatges impressionants del cosmos. Per\u00f2, com poden les estrelles produir tanta llum i energia?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Les estrelles s\u00f3n enormes boles de gas formades principalment per hidrogen i heli. La gravetat en aquests astres \u00e9s tan intensa que al seu nucli t\u00e9 lloc un proc\u00e9s que anomenem fusi\u00f3 nuclear, responsable per tota l\u2019energia que emeten les estrelles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>Qu\u00e8 \u00e9s la fusi\u00f3 nuclear?<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">La fusi\u00f3 nuclear consisteix en la fusi\u00f3 de nuclis at\u00f2mics, per formar-ne un de m\u00e9s massiu, cosa que allibera una quantitat enorme d\u2019energia en el proc\u00e9s. Els dos elements principals que es fusionen al centre de les estrelles s\u00f3n l\u2019hidrogen i l\u2019heli. Com hem explicat, la fusi\u00f3 d\u2019aquests \u00e0toms \u00e9s el que permet que el Sol i totes les altres estrelles brillin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Aquest proc\u00e9s de fusi\u00f3 nuclear \u00e9s possible gr\u00e0cies a l\u2019intens camp gravitatori de les estrelles. Els \u00e0toms al nucli d\u2019una estrella estan sotmesos a unes pressions i temperatures extremes. Aix\u00f2 fa que els nuclis d\u2018hidrogen puguin superar la seva repulsi\u00f3 natural i fusionar-se, per formar un nucli d\u2019heli.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Un cop una estrella ha exhaurit tot el seu hidrogen, comen\u00e7a a fusionar \u00e0toms d\u2019heli per formar elements m\u00e9s pesats, com carb\u00f3 i oxigen. Aquest proc\u00e9s continua, formant d\u2019aquesta manera els elements de la taula peri\u00f2dica. No obstant, aquest proc\u00e9s s\u2019atura a l\u2019arribar al ferro: la fusi\u00f3 d\u2019aquest element ja no allibera energia, sin\u00f3 que en consumeix, el que fa que l\u2019estrella col\u00b7lapsi sota el seu propi pes, en forma de <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cosmoespai.com\/cat\/supernoves\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">supernova<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>La import\u00e0ncia de la fusi\u00f3 nuclear<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">A part de fer que les estrelles brillin, la fusi\u00f3 nuclear tamb\u00e9 permet que les estrelles no col\u00b7lapsin sobre elles mateixes a causa de la gravetat. La llum i la calor que emeten les fusions d\u2019\u00e0toms contraresten la for\u00e7a de la gravetat, fent que l\u2019estrella continu\u00ef existint. De fet, \u00e9s en el moment en qu\u00e8 l\u2019astre ja no pot produir m\u00e9s energia que acaba desapareixent en una gran explosi\u00f3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Despr\u00e9s del Big Bang, que va representar la creaci\u00f3 de l\u2019univers, nom\u00e9s existien l\u2019hidrogen, l\u2019heli, i una mica de liti. Gr\u00e0cies a la fusi\u00f3 nuclear existeixen tots els altres elements m\u00e9s pesats, el que permet que pugui existir la vida a la Terra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Finalment, la fusi\u00f3 nuclear representa una forma d\u2019energia quasi il\u00b7limitada que no produeix residus. Per aquest motiu, s\u2019estan construint, des de fa anys, els primers reactors de fusi\u00f3 nuclear a la Terra, el que permetria disposar d\u2019una font d\u2019energia neta per abastir la demanda
