Fa uns anys, la Curiosity, una sonda enviada a Mart, l&#8217;any 2012, per a investigar de qu\u00e8 est\u00e0 compost, va descobrir indicis d\u2019aigua al planeta vermell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aquest descobriment indicava que, fa milions d\u2019anys, Mart va ser un molt bon candidat per a la vida extraterrestre. Durant un gran per\u00edode de temps, Mart havia estat un planeta amb uns oceans que recobrien la major part de la seva superf\u00edcie amb uns pocs metres de profunditat. Ara, per\u00f2, aquesta aigua s\u2019ha perdut i el planeta est\u00e0 format per grans quantitats d\u2019arena i roca. T\u00e9 una superf\u00edcie molt \u00e0rida en la qual passen molt sovint grans tempestes d\u2019arena que poden arribar a recobrir el planeta sencer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tot i aix\u00ed, altres sat\u00e8l\u00b7lits enviats mostren imatges en les quals es poden veure grans superf\u00edcies d\u2019aigua congelada tant als pols d\u2019aquest planeta com al seu subsol, que, com va descobrir la Curiosity, podria tenir un llac d\u2019uns 20 kil\u00f2metres d\u2019aigua l\u00edquida. Per\u00f2, apart d\u2019aquest petit llac, n\u2019hi ha molts d\u2019altres amb aigua congelada. Aquesta aigua podria tenir, si la descongel\u00e9ssim, un volum similar a tota l\u2019aigua que hi ha a la Terra, podent ser utilitzada en diferents finalitats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Una d&#8217;aquestes finalitats, seria poder proveir d\u2019aigua a una futura civilitzaci\u00f3 que visqu\u00e9s a Mart, per a no tenir que portar-la des de la Terra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019altra seria descompondre l&#8217;aigua en hidrogen i oxigen. L&#8217;hidrogen podria ser utilitzat per a la fabricaci\u00f3 de combustible per a naus que marxessin cap a altres planetes m\u00e9s llunyans. D\u2019aquesta manera, la nau que marx\u00e9s de la Terra nom\u00e9s portaria combustible per a arribar a Mart, i des del planeta vermell es tornarien a omplir els dip\u00f2sits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L&#8217;oxigen tamb\u00e9 es podria utilitzar. Podr\u00edem fusionar-lo per a formar di-oxigen, que s\u00f3n dos \u00e0toms d&#8217;oxigen fusionats. El di-oxigen \u00e9s el que respirem aqu\u00ed a la Terra.
