A vegades, aquests asteroides es desvien de les seves \u00f2rbites, podent arribar a impactar contra diferents cossos celestes. Al llarg de la seva exist\u00e8ncia, la Terra ha estat v\u00edctima de l\u2019impacte de nombrosos meteorits. Aquests tenen una mida que pot anar d\u2019uns mil\u00b7l\u00edmetres fins a varis kil\u00f2metres de di\u00e0metre. L\u2019energia que allibera un meteorit varia enormement en funci\u00f3 de la seva mida i composici\u00f3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>Petits meteorits<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">La majoria dels cossos que componen el sistema solar s\u00f3n diminuts, i tenen una massa molt petita. En la seva \u00f2rbita al voltant del Sol, el camp gravitatori de la Terra atreu un gran nombre d\u2019aquests objectes. A l\u2019entrar a l\u2019atmosfera terrestre, els petits grans de pols i roca es desintegren en q\u00fcesti\u00f3 de mil\u00b7lisegons deixant un rastre de llum darrere seu. Aix\u00f2 \u00e9s el que anomenem<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cosmoespai.com\/cat\/les-cues-destels-un-fenomen-molt-bonic-de-veure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> <strong>cua d\u2019estel<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Com \u00e9s de suposar, aquests <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cosmoespai.com\/cat\/quin-mal-pot-fer-un-micro-meteorit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">micro-meteorits<\/a><\/strong> no representen cap perill per al planeta, ja que no arriben a tocar el terra en cap moment. De fet, s\u00f3n un fenomen molt bonic de veure, del qual se sap amb exactitud els dies de l\u2019any en que es poden veure m\u00e9s cues d\u2019estels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>Grans asteroides contra la Terra<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Com hem vist, els meteorits m\u00e9s petits no representen cap perill per al planeta, ja que no arriben ni a tocar el terra. No obstant, el sistema solar tamb\u00e9 est\u00e0 format per objectes molt m\u00e9s grans, de l\u2019ordre de desenes o centenes de kil\u00f2metres de di\u00e0metre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">En el cas que algun d\u2019aquests asteroides impact\u00e9s contra la Terra, com ja ha succe\u00eft en v\u00e0ries ocasions en la hist\u00f2ria del nostre planeta, s\u2019alliberaria una quantitat descomunal d\u2019energia. Aix\u00f2 provocaria unes conseq\u00fc\u00e8ncies desastroses, incloent la mort d\u2019un gran nombre d\u2019esp\u00e8cies animals i vegetals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">La llista seg\u00fcent mostra la quantitat d\u2019energia que alliberarien meteorits de diferents mides a l\u2019impactar contra la Terra:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Un meteorit de 25 metres de di\u00e0metre alliberaria una energia de <strong>1 megatona<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Un de 50 metres alliberaria una energia equivalent a unes <strong>10 megatones<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Una roca de 140 metres alliberaria una quantitat d\u2019energia de <strong>300 megatones<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Un meteorit de 300 metres de di\u00e0metre alliberaria una energia de <strong>2 000 megatones<\/strong> a l\u2019impactar contra la Terra.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Un de 600 metres de di\u00e0metre produiria una energia de <strong>20 000 megatones<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Un impacte d\u2019un meteorit d\u2019un kil\u00f2metre alliberaria una energia de <strong>100 000 megatones<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Un de 5 kil\u00f2metres de di\u00e0metre provocaria una explosi\u00f3 de <strong>10 milions de megatones<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Un meteorit de 10 kil\u00f2metres de di\u00e0metre alliberaria una energia de <strong>100 milions de megatones <\/strong>a l\u2019impactar contra la Terra.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">L\u2019impacte d\u2019un asteroide d\u2019un kil\u00f2metre de di\u00e0metre podria arribar a provocar l\u2019extinci\u00f3 de la humanitat al complet. De fet, se sap que l\u2019<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cosmoespai.com\/cat\/com-es-van-extingir-els-dinosaures\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">extinci\u00f3 dels dinosaures<\/a><\/strong>, i de moltes m\u00e9s esp\u00e8cies animals i vegetals, va ser provocada per l\u2019impacte d\u2019un meteorit d\u2019uns 10 kil\u00f2metres de di\u00e0metre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Encara que ens pugui semblar un fet molt lluny\u00e0, no fa falta retrocedir tant en els temps per trobar altres impactes de grans meteorits. Per exemple, al 1908 un objecte de 50 metres de di\u00e0metre es va precipitar sobre la regi\u00f3 russa de Tunguska. Aquest meteoroide ni tan sols va arribar a tocar el terra, sin\u00f3 que es va volatilitzar a una altitud de 8 kil\u00f2metres. No obstant, va alliberar una energia d\u2019entre 10 i 15 megatones, 1000 vegades m\u00e9s que la bomba d\u2019Hiroshima.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Per sort, va caure en una zona deshabitada de Sib\u00e8ria, destruint m\u00e9s de 2000 kil\u00f2metres quadrats de boscos. A m\u00e9s, va provocar una ona de xoc de 5 en l\u2019escala Richter, que va donar la volta a la Terra 3 vegades. L\u2019enorme quantitat d\u2019energia alliberada pel meteorit tamb\u00e9 va generar vents, incendis, i la desaparici\u00f3 de part de l\u2019oz\u00f3 a l\u2019atmosfera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Tots aquests desastres van ser provocats per una roca de 50 metres de di\u00e0metre, \u00e9s a dir, d\u2019una mida una mica m\u00e9s gran que una casa, i que ni tan sols va arribar a tocar el terra.
