Ramsay va descobrir aquest element quan va refredar una mostra d\u2019aire fins que va esdevenir l\u00edquida, per despr\u00e9s capturar els gasos despresos mentre es tornava a escalfar. El ne\u00f3 va sobresortir a causa de la forta llum vermella que emetia a l\u2019estar exposat a energia el\u00e8ctrica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">R\u00e0pidament se\u2019l va identificar com un nou element. El nom de ne\u00f3 prov\u00e9 del grec \u00abneos\u00bb, que significa \u00abnou\u00bb.
