Molts metalls, el vidre, cer\u00e0miques, carb\u00f3 i incl\u00fas l\u2019aigua, cremen, amb una flama brillant, en pres\u00e8ncia de fluor pressuritzat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>Abund\u00e0ncia<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">A la Terra, el fluor \u00e9s el tretz\u00e8 element m\u00e9s com\u00fa, i est\u00e0 present en aproximadament 600 ppm (parts per mili\u00f3) al mantell terrestre. El fluor, en el seu estat elemental, reacciona amb rapidesa amb els vapors presents a l\u2019atmosfera, pel que la seva exist\u00e8ncia en la forma elemental \u00e9s quasi nul\u00b7la. A la natura, la major font de fluor s\u00f3n varis minerals, com la fluorita, la criolita i la fluorapatita.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>Usos de l\u2019element<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>El fluor s\u2019utilitza per fabricar qu\u00edmics com fungicides o herbicides.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>El fluor-19, que \u00e9s un is\u00f2top estable d\u2019aquest element, s\u2019utilitza en resson\u00e0ncies magn\u00e8tiques.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Aquest element tamb\u00e9 s\u2019utilitza en la fabricaci\u00f3 de varis medicaments, com el Lipitor, que redueix el colesterol, o en diversos antibi\u00f2tics.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>El fluor i alguns dels seus compostos tamb\u00e9 s\u2019utilitzen en la producci\u00f3 d\u2019urani.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>En molts processos s\u2019utilitza aquest element per reduir el punt de fusi\u00f3 de molts metalls.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>La pres\u00e8ncia (en molt poca quantitat) de fluor a l\u2019aigua, ajuda a prevenir les c\u00e0ries dentals.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>Hist\u00f2ria<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">L\u2019alta reactivitat i la naturalesa corrosiva del fluor van provocar un retard en la descoberta i isolaci\u00f3 del mateix com un nou element. Molts dels primers experiments amb el fluor van causar problemes de salut als cient\u00edfics. No obstant, al 1810, Andr\u00e9-Marie Amp\u00e8re va proposar que la subst\u00e0ncia desconeguda de l\u2019\u00e0cid fluorh\u00eddric era un nou element similar al clor. M\u00e9s tard, el qu\u00edmic Humphry Davy el va anomenar fluor, que prov\u00e9 de la paraula llatina \u00abfluo\u00bb, que significa flux.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">No va ser fins al 1886 que es va isolar per primer cop el fluor. Va ser el qu\u00edmic franc\u00e8s Ferdinand Frederic qui ho va aconseguir, a trav\u00e9s de l\u2019electr\u00f2lisi de fluorur de potassi i de l\u2019\u00e0cid fluorh\u00eddric.
