Un dels m\u00e9s comuns \u00e9s l\u2019aigua, trobant-se tamb\u00e9 present (en min\u00fascules quantitats) en forma de di\u00f2xid de carboni. Aproximadament un 45-70% de l\u2019oxigen de la Terra \u00e9s produ\u00eft per algues verdes i cianobacteris a l\u2019oce\u00e0, mentre que la resta d\u2019oxigen la produeixen les plantes terrestres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>Usos de l\u2019oxigen<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>L\u2019oxigen s\u2019utilitza sobre tot en la fabricaci\u00f3, refinament i fusi\u00f3 d\u2019acer o altres metalls.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Aquest element s\u2019utilitza en processos de purificaci\u00f3 de diversos metalls.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Tamb\u00e9 s\u2019utilitza \u00e0mpliament com a combustible per a coets, combinant hidrogen i oxigen l\u00edquid.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>La fabricaci\u00f3 de varis qu\u00edmics tamb\u00e9 requereix la utilitzaci\u00f3 d\u2019oxigen.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>L\u2019oxigen \u00e9s un element utilitzat en la fabricaci\u00f3 de kits de suport vital.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>Descoberta<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Al 1771, el qu\u00edmic angl\u00e8s Carl W. Scheele va descobrir l\u2019oxigen escalfant varis compostos, incloent \u00f2xid de mangan\u00e8s, \u00f2xid de mercuri i nitrat de potassi. Va observar que el gas produ\u00eft incrementava el proc\u00e9s de combusti\u00f3, i el va anomenar \u00abaire de foc\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Independentment, i desconeixent els resultats de Scheele (que no va publicar-ho fins al 1777), el qu\u00edmic Joseph Priestly tamb\u00e9 va descobrir l\u2019oxigen, a l\u2019any 1774, escalfant \u00f2xid de mercuri. El mercuri emetia un gas que feia que una espelma es consum\u00eds amb m\u00e9s rapidesa. Priestly tamb\u00e9 va descobrir que el gas obtingut permetia la superviv\u00e8ncia de la vida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">La paraula oxigen prov\u00e9 dels mots grecs \u00aboxys\u00bb i \u00abgenes\u00bb, que signifiquen \u00abformant d\u2019\u00e0cids\u00bb.
