Mart es troba a milions de kil\u00f2metres de la Terra, i no \u00e9s viable econ\u00f2micament el continu enviament de materials, menjar, aigua, aire respirable, o combustible, a la seva superf\u00edcie. Per aquest motiu \u00e9s necess\u00e0ria la producci\u00f3 de recursos b\u00e0sics, entre els que es troba l\u2019oxigen, des del mateix planeta Mart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">No obstant, Mart t\u00e9 una atmosfera molt fina, amb una pressi\u00f3 a la superf\u00edcie cent vegades m\u00e9s petita que la de la Terra. A m\u00e9s, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cosmoespai.com\/cat\/latmosfera-de-mart-composicio-utilitzacio-i-evolucio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">l\u2019atmosfera marciana<\/a><\/strong> est\u00e0 composta per un 96% de di\u00f2xid de carboni, i nom\u00e9s un 0,1% d\u2019oxigen. En comparaci\u00f3, a l\u2019atmosfera terrestre hi ha un 21% d\u2019oxigen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>El rover Perseverance<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">El Perseverance \u00e9s un rover (similar al <em>Curiosity)<\/em> que va aterrar a la superf\u00edcie marciana al febrer de 2021. La seva missi\u00f3 t\u00e9 com objectiu la detecci\u00f3 de vida microbiana al planeta vermell. No obstant, el Perseverance va equipat amb un aparell, de la mida d\u2019una torradora, dissenyat per comprovar si es pot produir oxigen respirable a partir de l\u2019atmosfera de Mart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Aquest aparell, anomenat MOXIE (Mars OXygen In-Situ Experiment), recull el CO2 abundant de l\u2019atmosfera, el comprimeix, i el sotmet a temperatures de 800\u00baC, per produir oxigen a trav\u00e9s d\u2019un proc\u00e9s anomenat electr\u00f2lisi (pel qual se separen els constituents d\u2019una mol\u00e8cula aplicant electricitat).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">El MOXIE t\u00e9 una pot\u00e8ncia de 300 watts, i t\u00e9 una tassa de producci\u00f3 d\u2019uns 10 grams d\u2019oxigen per hora. No obstant, una missi\u00f3 tripulada a Mart necessitaria generadors d\u2019oxigen 100 cops m\u00e9s grans que l\u2019instrument equipat al rover Perseverance. Aquest \u00faltim nom\u00e9s \u00e9s una petita prova que ha demostrat que \u00e9s possible produir oxigen respirable a partir de l\u2019atmosfera de Mart, i que ens permetr\u00e0 veure l\u2019efecte de la pols marciana sobre el dispositiu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>La utilitzaci\u00f3 de l\u2019oxigen produ\u00eft<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Com ja he explicat anteriorment, l\u2019oxigen a Mart \u00e9s d\u2019alta import\u00e0ncia, i es podria utilitzar de dos maneres principals:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>En primer lloc, l\u2019oxigen produ\u00eft es podria proporcionar als habitants de la col\u00f2nia marciana per poder respirar de forma segura. A m\u00e9s, s\u2019hauria de trobar la manera de poder reciclar la major quantitat l\u2019oxigen possible, tal com es fa avui en dia a l\u2019Estaci\u00f3 Espacial Internacional.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>En segon lloc, i igualment important, hi ha l\u2019opci\u00f3 d\u2019utilitzar l\u2019oxigen com a combustible per als coets. Aix\u00f2 \u00e9s realment important ja que els coets necessiten una gran quantitat de combustible per anar de Mart a la Terra (i viceversa).
