T\u00e9 n\u00famero at\u00f2mic 5, \u00e9s a dir, t\u00e9 5 protons al seu nucli (a part de neutrons), i 5 electrons al voltant. El bor \u00e9s un metall dur, i \u00e9s considerat el segon element m\u00e9s pesant a la Terra. Aquest element \u00e9s considerat un metal\u00b7loide (presenta caracter\u00edstiques interm\u00e8dies entre els metalls i els no-metalls).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">El bor \u00e9s un element que es pot presentar en forma de cristalls de diferents colors, o en forma de pols. En la seva forma cristal\u00b7lina \u00e9s un metal\u00b7loide trencad\u00eds, i d\u2019un color negre brillant, o vermell. En la seva forma amorfa \u00e9s una pols de color marr\u00f3. Tot i aix\u00ed, totes les formes en que es presenta el bor tenen una caracter\u00edstica en com\u00fa: el seu punt d\u2019ebullici\u00f3 \u00e9s molt elevat (uns 4 000 \u00baC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>Abund\u00e0ncia<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">A la Terra, el bor \u00e9s un element molt esc\u00e0s. La seva abund\u00e0ncia al mantell terrestre \u00e9s de tan sols 10 ppm (parts per mili\u00f3).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">\u00c9s un element que es crea nom\u00e9s pel xoc dels rajos c\u00f2smics amb les part\u00edcules i objectes de la Terra (o altres cossos celestes), i en les explosions de <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cosmoespai.com\/cat\/supernoves\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">supernoves<\/a><\/strong>. No es crea en el proc\u00e9s de fusi\u00f3 nuclear que t\u00e9 lloc a l\u2019interior de les estrelles. Aquesta \u00e9s una de les causes que expliquen la seva escassesa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>Usos del bor<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>L\u2019\u00e0cid b\u00f2ric s\u2019utilitza com un antis\u00e8ptic per tractar infeccions lleus.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>El bor \u00e9s un element que s\u2019utilitza regularment en la fabricaci\u00f3 de vidre, en fibres de borosilicats, i en productes de cer\u00e0mica.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>El bor tamb\u00e9 es troba present en els fertilitzants.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Una capa de bor i els seus aliatges s\u2019aplica en varis objectes per retardar la propagaci\u00f3 de possibles flames.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Els imants m\u00e9s potents que existeixen estan fabricats amb un aliatge de bor, ferro i neodimi. Diversos aparells electr\u00f2nics utilitzen aquest tipus d\u2019imants, com auriculars, altaveus o acceleradors de part\u00edcules.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>El bor tamb\u00e9 es fa servir en la fabricaci\u00f3 d\u2019armilles antibales, i de vehicles blindats.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>La seva descoberta<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">El bor va ser descobert al 1808 pels qu\u00edmics francesos Joseph-Louis Gay-Lussac i L.J. Th\u00e9nard, tot i que el bor descobert era d\u2019una puresa del 60%. M\u00e9s tard, al 1892, una forma m\u00e9s pura del bor va ser isolada pel qu\u00edmic franc\u00e8s Henri Moissan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">No va ser fins al 1909 que Ezekiel Weintraub va isolar bor amb una puresa de quasi el 100%.
