L\u2019heli t\u00e9 n\u00famero at\u00f2mic 2, \u00e9s a dir, t\u00e9 2 protons i 2 electrons. Aix\u00f2 el converteix en el segon element m\u00e9s lleuger de l\u2019univers, nom\u00e9s superat per l\u2019<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cosmoespai.com\/cat\/2021\/10\/17\/lhidrogen-caracteristiques-abundancia-isotops-i-usos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hidrogen<\/a><\/strong>, amb un sol prot\u00f3 i electr\u00f3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Incolor, inodor, i ins\u00edpid, l\u2019heli t\u00e9 els punts d\u2019ebullici\u00f3 i congelaci\u00f3 m\u00e9s baixos que els de cap altra subst\u00e0ncia coneguda. Esdev\u00e9 l\u00edquid a una temperatura de 4,25 graus Kelvin (-268,9 \u00baC), i no es pot solidificar baixant la temperatura. Es mant\u00e9 l\u00edquid fins al zero absolut en pressions ordin\u00e0ries, per\u00f2 se solidifica augmentant la pressi\u00f3. \u00c9s necessari aplicar-li una pressi\u00f3 de 25 atmosferes i una temperatura d\u2019un Kelvin (-272 \u00baC) per convertir-lo al seu estat s\u00f2lid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">L\u2019heli no \u00e9s t\u00f2xic en absolut, tot i que una inhalaci\u00f3 excessiva d\u2019aquest gas pot ser perillosa, ja que actua com a un asfixiant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>Abund\u00e0ncia a l\u2019univers i formaci\u00f3<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">L\u2019heli \u00e9s el segon element m\u00e9s com\u00fa a l\u2019univers, representant aproximadament el 9% d\u2019aquest, nom\u00e9s superat per l\u2019hidrogen, que constitueix el 90% del nostre univers. Aquests dos elements provenen del Big Bang. Avui en dia es produeix heli en grans quantitats al nucli de les estrelles, mitjan\u00e7ant la fusi\u00f3 nuclear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Tot i ser tan abundant a l\u2019univers, l\u2019heli \u00e9s esc\u00e0s a la Terra. El seu contingut a l\u2019atmosfera terrestre \u00e9s de tan sols 5,2 ppm (parts per mili\u00f3). A la Terra hi ha una producci\u00f3 constant d\u2019heli (a trav\u00e9s de la desintegraci\u00f3 radioactiva d\u2019alguns elements), per\u00f2 escapa f\u00e0cilment de l\u2019atmosfera terrestre i surt a l\u2019espai degut a la seva lleugeresa. Aproximadament 3000 tones d\u2019heli es produeixen anualment a la litosfera, tot i que escapen r\u00e0pidament a l\u2019espai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>Hist\u00f2ria i descoberta<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Al 1968, l\u2019astr\u00f2nom franc\u00e8s Pierre Janssen va viatjar a l\u2019\u00cdndia per mesurar l\u2019espectre solar durant un eclipsi total, i va observar una nova l\u00ednia espectral groga que indicava un nou element. L\u2019astr\u00f2nom Joseph Norman Lockyer va obtenir els mateixos resultats observant el Sol, a trav\u00e9s del boirum (una boira pol\u00b7luent) de Londres, i assumint que aquest nou element era un metall, el va anomenar heli. Tot i aix\u00ed, no va ser fins al 1895 que aquest element va ser a\u00efllat per primer cop, per William Ramsay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El nom d\u2019heli prov\u00e9 de <em>Helios<\/em>, el nom del d\u00e9u grec del sol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>Usos d\u2019aquest element<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">L\u2019heli s\u2019extreu, per a un \u00fas comercial, dels dep\u00f2sits de gas natural, majorit\u00e0riament a Texas. Les propietats \u00faniques que ofereix aquest element el fan una molt bona elecci\u00f3 per una gran varietat d\u2019usos. Aquests s\u00f3n alguns dels diversos usos que es dona a l\u2019heli:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Com que l\u2019heli en estat l\u00edquid \u00e9s la subst\u00e0ncia m\u00e9s freda que existeix, aquest s\u2019utilitza com a un mitj\u00e0 de refrigeraci\u00f3 del Gran Col\u00b7lisionador d\u2019Hadrons (LHC per les seves sigles en angl\u00e8s), i els imants superconductors de les m\u00e0quines de resson\u00e0ncia magn\u00e8tica. Tamb\u00e9 s\u2019utilitza per mantenir freds els instruments dels sat\u00e8l\u00b7lits.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>L\u2019heli tamb\u00e9 s\u2019utilitza en la refrigeraci\u00f3 de reactors nuclears, i mant\u00e9 fred el combustible dels coets durant el llan\u00e7ament.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Gr\u00e0cies a la seva baix\u00edssima densitat, l\u2019heli \u00e9s una opci\u00f3 ideal per unflar globus decoratius, globus meteorol\u00f2gics, i dirigibles. En un principi s\u2019utilitzava l\u2019<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cosmoespai.com\/cat\/2021\/10\/17\/lhidrogen-caracteristiques-abundancia-isotops-i-usos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hidrogen<\/a><\/strong> per aquest prop\u00f2sit, per\u00f2 al ser aquest element altament inflamable, es va deixar d\u2019utilitzar.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Com que l\u2019heli \u00e9s un element que no reacciona amb cap material, aquest s\u2019utilitza com una opci\u00f3 ideal per proveir una atmosfera protectora inerta en la fabricaci\u00f3 de fibres \u00f2ptiques i semi-conductors.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Una barreja de 80% heli i 20% oxigen s\u2019utilitza com a una atmosfera artificial per als bussejadors en aig\u00fces profundes.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>Els seus is\u00f2tops<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Dels vuit is\u00f2tops coneguts que t\u00e9 l\u2019heli, nom\u00e9s dos s\u00f3n estables: l\u2019heli-3 (<sup>3<\/sup>He) i l\u2019heli-4 (<sup>4<\/sup>He). D\u2019aquests dos is\u00f2tops, l\u2019heli-3 \u00e9s el m\u00e9s inusual: a l\u2019atmosfera terrestre, hi ha un \u00e0tom de <sup>3<\/sup>He per cada mili\u00f3 d\u2019\u00e0toms de <sup>4<\/sup>He. L\u2019heli-4 es produeix a la Terra per desintegraci\u00f3 alfa d\u2019elements radioactius, com l\u2019urani. En canvi, l\u2019heli-3, molt m\u00e9s esc\u00e0s a la Terra, es produeix per la desintegraci\u00f3 beta del triti (un is\u00f2top de l\u2019hidrogen). L\u2019heli-3 \u00e9s molt valu\u00f3s, ja que \u00e9s esc\u00e0s, i es planeja utilitzar-lo en el futur com a combustible per la fusi\u00f3 nuclear per produir energia. Aquest is\u00f2top es troba en majors concentracions en el medi interestel\u00b7lar i la superf\u00edcie lunar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">L\u2019heli t\u00e9 altres is\u00f2tops, fabricats artificialment, que s\u00f3n el <sup>5<\/sup>He, <sup>6<\/sup>He, <sup>7<\/sup>He, <sup>8<\/sup>He, <sup>9<\/sup>He i <sup>10<\/sup>He. Tot i aix\u00ed, aquests is\u00f2tops s\u00f3n extremadament inestables. Alguns d\u2019aquests is\u00f2tops es desintegren en altres is\u00f2tops d\u2019heli, que a la vegada es desintegren en altres elements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr
