El seu nucli es compon nom\u00e9s d\u2019un prot\u00f3, orbitat per un sol electr\u00f3. Aix\u00f2 fa que l\u2019hidrogen sigui l\u2019element m\u00e9s lleuger de tots, amb una massa at\u00f2mica mitjana d\u20191,00784 uma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Aquest element \u00e9s un gas incolor, inodor, ins\u00edpid, no \u00e9s t\u00f2xic, i \u00e9s altament inflamable. Un cop s\u2019ha inflamat, crema amb una flama quasi invisible de color blau p\u00e0l\u00b7lid. En el moment de la combusti\u00f3, quan l\u2019hidrogen entra en contacte amb l\u2019oxigen es produeix aigua, sent l\u2019\u00fanic residu que es produeix en la combusti\u00f3 de l\u2019hidrogen. Per exemple, el transbordador espacial de la NASA utilitzava hidrogen l\u00edquid com a combustible, i oxigen l\u00edquid com a oxidant. El que sortia dels tancs de combustible del transbordador era doncs vapor d\u2019aigua, ja que aquests dos elements es combinaven a l\u2019hora de la combusti\u00f3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>Abund\u00e0ncia a l\u2019univers<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">L\u2019hidrogen \u00e9s l\u2019element qu\u00edmic m\u00e9s abundant a l\u2019univers. Representa el 75%, en massa, de tota la mat\u00e8ria bari\u00f2nica (amb la que nosaltres interactuem). Les estrelles es componen majorit\u00e0riament d\u2019aquesta element. A la part central d\u2019aquestes, l\u2019hidrogen es fusiona entre s\u00ed, degut a les altes temperatures i la pressi\u00f3 a la que est\u00e0 sotm\u00e8s. D\u2019aqu\u00ed \u00e9s d\u2019on extreuen la seva energia les estrelles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Tot i aix\u00ed, a la Terra \u00e9s molt rar trobar aquest element de forma lliure, ja que es combina amb altres compostos per formar diferents subst\u00e0ncies. Per exemple, es combina amb l\u2019oxigen per formar aigua (H<sub>2<\/sub>O), o amb carb\u00f3, per formar hidrocarburs, com el met\u00e0 (CH<sub>4<\/sub>), el but\u00e0 (C<sub>4<\/sub>H<sub>10<\/sub>)&#8230; Com que \u00e9s la subst\u00e0ncia qu\u00edmica m\u00e9s lleugera de totes, es troba a les parts m\u00e9s altes de l\u2019atmosfera, i fins i tot s\u2019escapa del camp gravitatori del nostre planeta. Es calcula que la Terra perd 3 kilograms d\u2019hidrogen cada segon, que al llarg d\u2019un any representen 95 000 tones d\u2019hidrogen perdut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>Els is\u00f2tops de l\u2019hidrogen<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Els is\u00f2tops d\u2019un element qu\u00edmic s\u00f3n \u00e0toms que al nucli tenen el mateix nombre de protons que l\u2019element original, per\u00f2 un nombre diferent de neutrons. Els is\u00f2tops, doncs, conserven les mateixes caracter\u00edstiques que l\u2019element original, per\u00f2 amb un nombre diferent de neutrons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">En particular, l\u2019hidrogen t\u00e9 2 tipus d\u2019is\u00f2tops naturals, que s\u2019escriuen <sup>2<\/sup>H i <sup>3<\/sup>H. Tot i aix\u00ed, aquest element posseeix altres is\u00f2tops, els quals s\u00f3n molt inestables i mai s\u2019han observat a la naturalesa, tot i que s\u2019han pogut sintetitzar en laboratori. Aquests is\u00f2tops tan inestables van des del <sup>4<\/sup>H fins al <sup>7<\/sup>H.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019hidrogen \u00e9s l\u2019\u00fanic element que t\u00e9 diferents noms per als seus is\u00f2tops<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Hidrogen-2 (Deuteri)<\/span><\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Aquest is\u00f2top de l\u2019hidrogen, conegut com a deuteri (de s\u00edmbol D), cont\u00e9 un prot\u00f3 i un neutr\u00f3 al nucli. El deuteri no \u00e9s radioactiu ni representa un perill de toxicitat significatiu. L\u2019aigua enriquida en aquest is\u00f2top s\u2019anomena aigua pesada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Hidrogen-3 (Triti)<\/span><\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">L\u2019<sup>3<\/sup>H, conegut com a triti (de s\u00edmbol T), cont\u00e9 un prot\u00f3 i dos neutrons al seu nucli. El triti \u00e9s un is\u00f2top radioactiu, i el seu per\u00edode de semidesintegraci\u00f3 \u00e9s d\u2019aproximadament 12,3 anys. En el medi natural es produeixen petites quantitats de triti degut a la interacci\u00f3 de raigs c\u00f2smics amb els gasos atmosf\u00e8rics. L\u2019ITER, el reactor de fusi\u00f3 nuclear m\u00e9s avan\u00e7at del m\u00f3n, pret\u00e9n fusionar \u00e0toms de deuteri i triti per produir grans quantitats d\u2019energia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">La resta<\/span><\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Els altres is\u00f2tops d\u2019aquest element no es troben a la natura, i s\u2019han creat artificialment de diferents formes. Per exemple, el <sup>4<\/sup>H (amb un prot\u00f3 i tres neutrons al nucli), es va crear bombardejant triti amb nuclis de deuteri. Aquest i els is\u00f2tops amb m\u00e9s neutrons de l\u2019hidrogen tenen un per\u00edode de semidesintegraci\u00f3 de l\u2019ordre de 10<sup>-23<\/sup> segons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>L\u2019hidrogen com a combustible<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">L\u2019hidrogen \u00e9s el carburant amb m\u00e9s densitat energ\u00e8tica: 1 kilogram cont\u00e9 la mateixa energia que 2,8 kilograms de met\u00e0. L\u2019hidrogen es podria utilitzar en el futur per propulsar autom\u00f2bils, doncs \u00e9s una energia amb un impacte medi-ambiental nul, ja que quan entra en combusti\u00f3 el seu \u00fanic residu \u00e9s aigua. A m\u00e9s a m\u00e9s, \u00e9s molt eficient com a combustible. En un vehicle propulsat per hidrogen, aproximadament el 60% de l\u2019energia qu\u00edmica de l\u2019hidrogen es converteix en energia motriu per al vehicle, mentre que el rendiment mec\u00e0nic dels motors t\u00e8rmics, com els de gasolina o gasoil, \u00e9s d\u2019entre un 20 i un 35%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">A m\u00e9s, l\u2019hidrogen \u00e9s molt utilitzat a la ind\u00fastria, i \u00e9s f\u00e0cil d\u2019emmagatzemar i de transportar. Per tant, l\u2019hidrogen podria utilitzar-se en el futur com una energia molt eficient i neta.
