Es creu que a la Via L\u00e0ctia existeixen aproximadament mil milions d\u2019estrelles de neutrons. Aquest tipus d\u2019estrelles representen l\u2019etapa final en la vida d\u2019una estrella super-massiva.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Les estrelles que donen lloc a estrelles de neutrons s\u00f3n les m\u00e9s grans que existeixen en el nostre univers, com s\u00f3n les gegants vermelles o blaves. Aquests tipus d\u2019estrelles s\u00f3n una minoria en el nostre univers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>La seva formaci\u00f3<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Al llarg de la vida d\u2019una estrella, la gravetat la intenta fer col\u00b7lapsar, mentre que l\u2019energia que es produeix al seu interior, a trav\u00e9s la fusi\u00f3 nuclear, provoca l\u2019efecte contrari. El resultat \u00e9s que l\u2019estrella es va expandint, en el cas de les estrelles m\u00e9s grans, fins a tenir un di\u00e0metre tan gran com l\u2019\u00f2rbita de J\u00fapiter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">En el cas de les <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cosmoespai.com\/cat\/2020\/05\/07\/quins-tipus-destels-hi-ha\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">gegants vermelles i blaves<\/a><\/strong>, aconsegueixen arribar al punt de fusionar ferro. Arribades a aquest punt, les estrelles ja no poden extreure energia, i es consumeixen. La gravetat guanya la batalla, i en q\u00fcesti\u00f3 d\u2019un o dos segons, l\u2019estrella explota en forma de supernova, expulsant moltes de les seves capes a l\u2019espai, i deixant darrere el que anomenem una estrella de neutrons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Les estrelles de neutrons acostumen a tenir una massa d\u2019entre 1,3 i 2,5 masses solars, per\u00f2 en una esfera de nom\u00e9s 20 kil\u00f2metres de di\u00e0metre. Com podem observar, aquests objectes s\u00f3n enormement densos. Un terr\u00f2s de sucre d\u2019estrella de neutrons tindria una massa de mil milions de tones (un trili\u00f3 de kilograms) a la Terra. La gravetat segueix comprimint-lo, fins un punt on els \u00e0toms estan tan compactats i a prop dels altres, que els electrons s\u00f3n impulsats contra els protons, de tal manera que es fusionen per formar neutrons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Per tant, el nom d\u2019estrelles de neutrons prov\u00e9 de la seva composici\u00f3. Estan formades fonamentalment per aquestes part\u00edcules. La gravetat en aquests cossos \u00e9s tan elevada que no hi pot haver cap muntanya. Es calcula que les parts que sobresurten de la seva superf\u00edcie poden tenir, com a m\u00e0xim, uns 5 cent\u00edmetres d\u2019altura.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>Els p\u00falsars<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">La supernova que dona lloc a l\u2019estrella de neutrons infereix una enorme quantitat d\u2019energia a aquest objecte. En conseq\u00fc\u00e8ncia, les estrelles de neutrons roten sobre el seu eix extremadament r\u00e0pid: entre 0,1 i 60 rotacions per segon, i algunes arriben a les 700 rotacions cada segon. A mesura que passa el temps van alentint la seva rotaci\u00f3. El camps magn\u00e8tics formidables que tenen aquest tipus d\u2019objectes produeixen feixos de llum d\u2019alta energia des dels seus pols magn\u00e8tics. En el cas de que un dels pols de l\u2019estrella de neutrons apunti a la Terra, el feixos de llum d\u2019alta energia poden passar pel costat de la Terra, produint l\u2019efecte que faria un far. Aix\u00f2 crea el que anomenem p\u00falsars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Aquests flaixos de llum es produeixen amb intervals de temps extremadament precisos i constants. \u00c9s tal la seva precisi\u00f3 que els astr\u00f2noms estan considerant d\u2019utilitzar els p\u00falsars per la navegaci\u00f3 espacial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>Magnetars<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Les estrelles de neutrons tenen uns camps magn\u00e8tics formidables. El camp magn\u00e8tic de la Terra \u00e9s d\u2019aproximadament 1 gauss, i el del Sol \u00e9s d\u2019unes centenes de gauss. Les estrelles de neutrons tenen de mitjana uns camps magn\u00e8tics de trilions de gauss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">No obstant, hi ha estrelles de neutrons amb un camp magn\u00e8tic molt m\u00e9s potent que el de la resta. A aquests tipus d\u2019estrelles de neutrons se\u2019ls anomena magnetars.
