Per respondre aquesta pregunta hem de saber de quina manera interaccionen la llum, i les mol\u00e8cules que formen l\u2019atmosfera, entre elles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>La llum<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">La llum \u00e9s un tipus d\u2019energia que viatja en forma d\u2019ones. La llum blanca es pot descompondre mitjan\u00e7ant un prisma. L\u2019espectre de la llum visible tamb\u00e9 es pot observar quan un arc de Sant Mart\u00ed apareix al cel. Els fotons (que s\u00f3n les part\u00edcules de la llum) que transporten llum lila o blava s\u00f3n els m\u00e9s energ\u00e8tics de tots (en el marc de la llum visible), mentre que els de color vermell, amb una longitud d\u2019ona m\u00e9s llarga, s\u00f3n menys energ\u00e8tics. Quan la llum visible cont\u00e9 tots els seus colors, la llum resultant \u00e9s blanca (d\u2019aqu\u00ed prov\u00e9 el seu nom).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>Interacci\u00f3 amb l\u2019atmosfera<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">La llum viatja a trav\u00e9s de l\u2019espai en l\u00ednia recta, a no ser que algun objecte o cos celeste obstaculitzi el seu cam\u00ed. En aquest cas, l\u2019objecte o cos pot afectar a la llum en una d\u2019aquestes tres maneres:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>reflectint la llum (com un mirall)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>descomponent-la (com un prisma)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>o escampant-la (com les mol\u00e8cules dels gasos a l\u2019atmosfera)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Quan la llum del Sol arriba a l\u2019atmosfera terrestre, continua anant en l\u00ednia recta fins que ensopega amb una part\u00edcula de pols o una mol\u00e8cula de gas. El que t\u00e9 lloc en aquell moment dep\u00e8n de la longitud d\u2019ona de la llum i de la mida de l\u2019element contra la que colpeja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">En cas de que la llum visible es trobi amb una part\u00edcula de pols o una goteta d\u2019aigua, que tenen una mida molt m\u00e9s gran que la longitud d\u2019ona de la llum visible, aquesta es reflecteix en diferents direccions. Tots els colors de la llum es veuen reflectits per la part\u00edcula de la mateixa manera. La llum reflectida apareix blanca, ja que cont\u00e9 tots els colors de la llum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Per altra banda, si la llum \u00e9s troba amb una mol\u00e8cula de gas, el que passar\u00e0 ser\u00e0 diferent. Les mol\u00e8cules de gas s\u00f3n m\u00e9s petites que la longitud d\u2019ona de la llum visible, pel que, quan la llum colpeja contra una d\u2019aquestes mol\u00e8cules, una part d\u2019ella pot ser absorbida. Al cap d\u2019un temps, la mol\u00e8cula radia, \u00e9s a dir, deixar anar, la llum en una altra direcci\u00f3. El color de la llum que deixa anar \u00e9s el mateix que el que ha absorbit anteriorment. Els diversos colors de la llum es veuen afectats de diferent manera, tot i que tots els colors poden ser absorbits. Per\u00f2 les mol\u00e8cules de l\u2019aire absorbeixen amb m\u00e9s freq\u00fc\u00e8ncia els fotons d\u2019alta energia (els de color blau), que els vermells. Aquest proc\u00e9s es coneix com a difusi\u00f3 de Rayleigh, en honor a lord Rayleigh, que va ser el primer en descriure aquest fenomen, al 1871.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>Doncs, per qu\u00e8 el cel \u00e9s blau?<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">El color blau del cel es deu a la difusi\u00f3 de Rayleigh. A mesura que la llum viatja a trav\u00e9s de l\u2019atmosfera, molta llum amb longituds d\u2019ona curtes s\u00f3n absorbides. La llum vermella, taronja o groga quasi no es veu afectada per l\u2019aire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Les longituds d\u2019ona m\u00e9s curtes (lila i blau) s\u00f3n les que s\u2019escampen m\u00e9s intensament, ra\u00f3 per la qual hi ha molta m\u00e9s llum blava que arriba als nostres ulls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Ens podr\u00edem preguntar per qu\u00e8 el cel no \u00e9s lila, doncs la llum d\u2019aquest color s\u2019escampa m\u00e9s que la blava, ja que \u00e9s m\u00e9s energ\u00e8tica. Aix\u00f2 \u00e9s degut a que molta llum lila s\u2019absorbeix a les capes altes de l\u2019atmosfera. A m\u00e9s, els nostres ulls s\u00f3n molt m\u00e9s sensibles al blau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>Per qu\u00e8 el color blau del cel empal\u00b7lideix a l\u2019horitz\u00f3?<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">A mesura que dirigim la nostra mirada cap a l\u2019horitz\u00f3, ens adonem que el cel apareix d\u2019un color molt m\u00e9s p\u00e0l\u00b7lid, o fins i tot blanc. Aix\u00f2 es deu a que la llum que ens arriba des de l\u2019horitz\u00f3 ha hagut de viatjar m\u00e9s a trav\u00e9s de l\u2019aire, pel que molta de la llum de color blau s\u2019ha escampat moltes vegades en moltes direccions. La superf\u00edcie de la Terra tamb\u00e9 t\u00e9 un paper important en escampar i reflectir aquesta llum.
