Molta gent pot pensar que xocaran i acabar\u00e0 en una explosi\u00f3 magistral entre les dues gal\u00e0xies, per\u00f2 qu\u00e8 passar\u00e0 en realitat?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Al Grup Local (el conjunt de les gal\u00e0xies m\u00e9s properes a nosaltres al que li hem donat aquest nom), format per la Via L\u00e0ctia i unes 33 gal\u00e0xies m\u00e9s, la nostra gal\u00e0xia i la d&#8217;Andr\u00f2meda s\u00f3n les m\u00e9s grans. Andr\u00f2meda tamb\u00e9 \u00e9s una de les gal\u00e0xies m\u00e9s properes a nosaltres, situada actualment a 2,5 milions d\u2019anys llum, i se&#8217;ns apropa a una velocitat de 400.000 km\/h. Aix\u00f2 fa que es prevegi que les dues gal\u00e0xies col\u00b7lisionaran d\u2019aqu\u00ed a uns 4 mil milions d\u2019anys. Un cop s&#8217;hagin trobat la Via L\u00e0ctia i Andr\u00f2meda, transcorreran uns 2 mil milions d\u2019anys m\u00e9s, durant els quals acabaran de fusionar-se en una sola gal\u00e0xia. Les dues gal\u00e0xies s\u2019apropen per l\u2019atracci\u00f3 gravitacional m\u00fatua, incrementada per la quantitat de mat\u00e8ria fosca que les rodeja. De fet, al nostre univers, hi ha molta m\u00e9s mat\u00e8ria fosca que mat\u00e8ria \u00abnormal\u00bb, anomenada tamb\u00e9, aquesta \u00faltima, mat\u00e8ria bari\u00f2nica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fa m\u00e9s d\u2019un segle que s\u2019han fet especulacions sobre com acabar\u00e0 la Via L\u00e0ctia, per\u00f2 ara sabem exactament com es desenvoluparan els fets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En primer lloc, les dues gal\u00e0xies s\u2019acostaran i passaran de llarg, impulsades per la seva in\u00e8rcia, per\u00f2 despr\u00e9s, com una molla, es tornaran a acostar una altra vegada a causa de la gravetat, repetint aquest proc\u00e8s un parell o tres de vegades. Els bra\u00e7os de la Via L\u00e0ctia es deformaran cada cop m\u00e9s a cada passada, fins que s\u2019acabin de fusionar del tot les dues gal\u00e0xies, formant-ne una sola, m\u00e9s gran i segurament de forma el\u00b7l\u00edptica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Per\u00f2 que passar\u00e0? El proc\u00e9s de fusi\u00f3 ser\u00e0 catastr\u00f2fic?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No gens, la fusi\u00f3 ser\u00e0 justament aix\u00f2. Les estrelles de les dues gal\u00e0xies es mesclaran. Tot i aix\u00ed, hi ha tanta dist\u00e0ncia entre les estrelles que casi no hi ha possibilitats que xoquin entre elles. El que s\u00ed canviaran ser\u00e0 la seva \u00f2rbita, de manera aleat\u00f2ria, al voltant del nou centre gal\u00e0ctic que crearan els dos forats negres que sabem que s\u2019amaguen al centre de totes dues gal\u00e0xies, al fusionar-se en un sol. De fet, pensem que la Via L\u00e0ctia ja s\u2019ha fusionat al llarg del temps amb altres gal\u00e0xies m\u00e9s petites que ella.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aix\u00f2 ser\u00e0 tot el que passar\u00e0, res d\u2019explosions ni de cat\u00e0strofes. Seria un espectacle molt bonic de contemplar per una civilitzaci\u00f3 que visqu\u00e9s durant aquest per\u00edode de temps, i m\u00e9s encara perqu\u00e8 hi hauria moltes m\u00e9s estrelles que avui en dia en una mateixa gal\u00e0xia. Per\u00f2, per desgr\u00e0cia, quan tot aix\u00f2 passi, el Sol ja haur\u00e0 cremat la Terra i la resta de planetes interiors del sistema solar. Per aquesta ra\u00f3, els humans no podrem presenciar aquest espectacle.
