Cada dia es descobreixen nous exoplanetes orbitant estrelles molt llunyanes a la nostra, i que no s\u2019assemblen gaire als que orbiten el Sol. Tot i aix\u00ed, al 2011, un equip de cient\u00edfics va descobrir un planeta format principalment per carb\u00f3, orbitant una estrella a 40 anys llum de la Terra. Es podria dir que \u00e9s un planeta de diamants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>Curiositats sobre 55 Cancri e<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Aquest planeta \u00e9s conegut com una super-terra. \u00c9s un planeta roc\u00f3s que orbita al voltant d\u2019una estrella de la constel\u00b7laci\u00f3 de C\u00e0ncer, similar al Sol, a 40 anys llum de la Terra. 55 Cancri e \u00e9s el doble de gran que el nostre planeta, per\u00f2 t\u00e9 una massa 8 vegades m\u00e9s gran que la de Terra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">55 Cancri e est\u00e0 tan a prop de la seva estrella, que orbita al seu voltant cada 18 hores terrestres. Aquest planeta sempre ensenya la mateixa cara a la seva estrella. Aquest fenomen tamb\u00e9 li passa a la Lluna: hi ha una cara que no ensenya mai a la Terra, l\u2019anomenada <strong>cara fosca de la Lluna<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>El planeta de diamants<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">El carb\u00f3, component clau per a la formaci\u00f3 de la mat\u00e8ria org\u00e0nica, \u00e9s un dels components m\u00e9s valuosos i apreciats per la humanitat, com els diamants o el petroli, formats a partir d\u2019aquest material. Malgrat aquesta import\u00e0ncia, el carb\u00f3 \u00e9s un material molt poc com\u00fa: nom\u00e9s representa un 0,1 % del nostre planeta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">En canvi, a 55 Cancri, el carb\u00f3 pot ser tan com\u00fa com la sorra. Les altes temperatures de 55 Cancri e, d\u2019uns 2150\u00baC, estan causades per la r\u00e0pida rotaci\u00f3 del planeta i la seva proximitat a l\u2019estrella. Gr\u00e0cies a aquestes altes temperatures i a les pressions a les quals est\u00e0 sotm\u00e8s el planeta, provoquen que el carb\u00f3 es converteix, massivament, en diamants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">El planeta 55 Cancri e podria tenir una escor\u00e7a de grafit de varis centenars de kil\u00f2metres d\u2019espessor. Segons Nikku Madhusudhan, astrof\u00edsic i investigador postdoctoral de la universitat de Yale, sota aquesta escor\u00e7a de grafit hi ha una enorme capa de diamant. Es creu que els diamants representen m\u00e9s d\u2019un ter\u00e7 de l\u2019espessor del planeta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Aquest descobriment va canviar la manera en que s\u2019ent\u00e9n la qu\u00edmica planet\u00e0ria, ja que el nostre sistema solar est\u00e0 ple d\u2019oxigen i de silicats, mentre que aquest sistema estel\u00b7lar est\u00e0 format principalment per carb\u00f3.
