L\u2019efecte Coriolis desvia la traject\u00f2ria dels objectes llen\u00e7ats en l\u00ednia recta a la superf\u00edcie de la Terra, ja sigui cap a la dreta a l\u2019hemisferi nord o cap a l\u2019esquerra a l\u2019hemisferi sud. L\u2019efecte Coriolis, o tamb\u00e9 anomenat <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cosmoespai.com\/cat\/2020\/10\/02\/que-es-lefecte-coriolis-descobridor-historia-i-aplicacions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">for\u00e7a Coriolis<\/a><\/strong>, actua sobre les masses d\u2019aire i d\u2019aigua. \u00c9s per aquesta ra\u00f3 que es formen huracans o tornados, doncs a causa de la for\u00e7a Coriolis, que fa girar el vent en diferents sentits, provocant aquests fen\u00f2mens. Mentrestant, una persona que estigui situada exactament a un dels pols no s\u2019haur\u00e0 mogut ni un kil\u00f2metre. Aquesta difer\u00e8ncia fa que la rotaci\u00f3 del planeta cre\u00ef huracans en determinades latituds, sobre tot en les que hi ha representades a la imatge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Segons explica el professor de meteorologia de la Universitat de Hawaii Gary Barnes, a la p\u00e0gina web de la seva instituci\u00f3, i gr\u00e0cies a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.soest.hawaii.edu\/GG\/ASK\/hurricanes.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">la seva observaci\u00f3 dels huracans<\/a>, <\/strong>senyala que els huracans no es formen a menys de 5 graus de la l\u00ednia de l\u2019Equador, que s\u00f3n aproximadament uns 300 kil\u00f2metres. La ra\u00f3 cient\u00edfica per la qual no es formen huracans en aquesta zona \u00e9s molt simple. En aquesta part de la Terra, la for\u00e7a Coriolis \u00e9s massa d\u00e8bil per a que l\u2019aire roti al voltant d\u2019una bossa d\u2019aire a baixa pressi\u00f3. Com a conseq\u00fc\u00e8ncia, si l\u2019aire no rota, no hi ha tempesta tropical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Tot i aix\u00ed, i encara que sigui molt infreq\u00fcent, s\u2019ha observat la formaci\u00f3 d\u2019huracans prop de l\u2019Equador, fen\u00f2mens que en teoria no s\u2019haguessin hagut de produir. \u00c9s el cas del tif\u00f3 <em>Varmei <\/em>(es pot veure a la imatge al costat del litoral afric\u00e0), que es va formar a nom\u00e9s 150 kil\u00f2metres de la l\u00ednia de l\u2019Equador al 2001, al sur del mar de Xina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Els investigadors de la NASA que van estudiar el cas del tif\u00f3 <em>Varmei<\/em>, van descobrir que hi va haver una barreja de condicions meteorol\u00f2giques i topogr\u00e0fiques, que van substituir la funci\u00f3 de rotaci\u00f3 de la Terra, i que com a resultat va crear aquest tif\u00f3.
